Simplicity is Starting Simply

You don’t have to cook fancy or complicated – just good food from fresh ingredients.

– Julia Child

Julia Child was born this week (Aug. 15) in 1912, and this wonderful quote is today’s main dish! How can we argue with such a great example of simplicity? I know around our house, @melissaplosker and I don’t cook fancy shmancy. But we try to eat as much fresh food as we can – good veggies and fruit (and, my favorite, Melissa’s homemade hummus!).

When we hear about “simplicity,” “scaling back,” or a “minimalist mindset,” it’s easy to think our lives are too complicated to do it or that we have too much stuff or nowhere to start. But that’s not what simplicity is all about. (At least not in Nobody Life!) Simplicity is…well…starting simply. Use the food in your cupboards. Use the veggies in your fridge. If food isn’t where you want to start, then think about cleaning one corner of your closet or donating one item to open up space in your life.

Simplicity doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s just one step you can take right now.

How do you simplify? How could you simplify?
